There are generally two types of windows. We can install both types. The style pictured here is called a replacement window. They do not have a nailing flange like new construction windows. They are a more cost-effective option when replacing the windows in your home. They allow the installer to remove the old window without having to remove the exterior siding and interior drywall or window seal. With replacement windows, the installer can save time during installation which saves the homeowner money.
Replacement windows sometimes get a bad rap. If they are not installed properly problems can occur just like any other improperly installed item. When installed properly they will provide years of cost savings. Always make sure your installer is knowledgeable when it comes to installing replacement windows. They should always shim the replacement window to make sure it is plumb and level. They should then insulate around the window between the replacement window frame and the old window frame. Then add exterior stops and wrap with vinyl-coated aluminum. Along with any interior touch up work that may need to be done. For more information check out this consumer reports replacement window buying guide.
